Pokemon Regional Championships at Midwest venues are significant events that bring players from across multiple states. Indianapolis and Columbus have both hosted Regional Championship events that draw 500+ players for a weekend of competitive play. The Pokemon organized play community skews younger than Magic's but has substantial adult participation, and competitive Pokemon at the regional level requires serious preparation and deck investment.
Yu-Gi-Oh
Yu-Gi-Oh has a dedicated organized play community in the Midwest through the OTS (Official Tournament Store) system and larger Konami-run Regional Qualifiers. Local weekly events run at game shops across the region with the same store-level infrastructure as MTG and Pokemon. Star Wars Unlimited (Fantasy Flight Games, headquartered in the Twin Cities) has organized play centered in the Midwest. MetaZoo has a regional community around cryptid-themed cards.
